Arthur C. Brooks
Biography
Arthur C. Brooks is a distinguished fellow at the Civitas Institute. He is the Parker Gilbert Montgomery Professor of the Practice of Public and Nonprofit Leadership at the Harvard Kennedy School and professor of management practice at Harvard Business School, where he teaches courses on leadership, happiness, and social entrepreneurship. He was president of the American Enterprise Institute from 2009 to 2019.
Brooks is also a contributing writer at The Atlantic where he is host of the How to Build a Happy Life podcast. In addition to writing in the popular press, Brooks has published many peer-reviewed articles and thirteen books, including Build the Life You Want: The Art and Science of Getting Happier (Portfolio, 2023) with coauthor Oprah Winfrey, and From Strength to Strength: Finding Success, Happiness, and Deep Purpose in the Second Half of Life (Portfolio, 2022). He earned an M.Phil. and Ph.D. in public policy analysis from the Rand Graduate School.
